Sarah Street (née Lear) is thought to have probably been a sister of the writer of humorous verse and professional watercolourist, Edward Lear. Sarah Lear married Charles Street in England in 1822. Her son, Charles Henry Street, was born in Scotland in 1824. Sarah emigrated to New Zealand, together with her son and his family, in 1853. She died in Dunedin in 1873, aged 79.
